Making the Rounds at General Hospital – Motives

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Diego explains his string of murders.
Alexis was keeping vigil by Kate’s bedside when she regained consciousness, mumbling the name Olivia. When Alexis questioned her about it, her anxiety level rose, pushing her heartbeat up dangerously high. Who is Olivia? Is it part of her big, bad secret she’s alluded to with Jax and insists Sonny can never know?Meanwhile, still certain the Zs are…

Presented By: Definitive list of events that are supported in TFS

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008
Question came in today: What’s the definitive list of events that are supported in 2008?  Are their any events that should be avoided? Bill Essary Architect on the TFS team was the first to jump on this:   The event that we now use to communicate highwater marks in the security subsystem is a DataChangedEvent.  That new event type carries a sequence ID that can be used to watch for and understand changes in the Group Security Service (GSS), the Authorization Service and the Common Structure Service (CSS).  We are still shipping transforms and event definitions for the older fine-grained events.  I sifted through the two sources of event definitions in the system (transforms subdirectory, registration data) and have included a summary of the current set of events that we support in TFS 2008. Work Item Tracking Ã?· WorkItemChangedEvent Version Control Ã?· CheckInEvent Team Build Ã?· BuildCompletionEvent2 Ã?· BuildStatusChangeEvent Ã?· BuildCompletionEvent CSS Ã?· ProjectCreatedEvent Ã?· ProjectDeletedEvent GSS/Authorization/CSS Ã?· DataChangedEvent o Type: STRUCTURE âÂ?Â? sequence id for Services/v1.0/CommonStructureService.asmx?op=GetChangedNodes o Type: SECURITY âÂ?Â? sequence id for Services/v1.0/AuthorizationService.asmx?op=GetChangedAccessControlEntries o Type: IDENTITY âÂ?Â? sequence id for Services/v2.0/GroupSecurityService2.asmx?op=GetIdentityChanges or Services/v1.0/GroupSecurityService.asmx?op=GetChangedIdentities ObsoletedâÂ?¦ Ã?· BranchMovedEvent âÂ?Â? Blu-ray Review: Mr. Woodcock

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

A dull, misguided comedy with a few light laughs.
Mr. Woodcock commits the cardinal sin for comedies. It’s just not funny. While it offers laughs, they’re spaced erratically and not worth the payoff. The goofy slapstick and Billy Bob Thornton’s character are mildly amusing, but the rest of this film from director Craig Gillespie falls flat.Thornton plays the abusive gym teacher…

TV Review: Terminator – The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Rowdy robots and time-travel shenanigans. Paradox anyone? Or maybe some aspirin?
I love time travel stories, even though they generally drive me nuts. The first Terminator movie made fictional sense: something bad came out of the future and this future could not be avoided because – in a sense – it had already happened. When they apparently DID avoid this future at the end of the second movie, the logical thing to happen would…

TV Review: Nova – “The Four-Winged Dinosaur”

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Nova explores the study of a new dinosaur and the surrounding dispute in the scientific community.
While in no way belittling those who study dinosaurs, it feels as though anytime a science documentary series is not quite sure what to do their next episode about dinosaurs are trotted out. Dinosaurs are the "go to" animals. People love them – they terrify, they awe, and for some reason, they inspire. Though they've been…

Movie Review: Be Kind, Rewind to Nacho Libre

Monday, February 25th, 2008

If all Jack Black’s movies were on VHS, I’d want to rewind his latest, Be Kind, Rewind to the Nacho Libre mark.
Michel Gondry's new movie, Be Kind, Rewind, lacks the same humor and touching human moments of Jack Black's Nacho Libre. But it isn't a Jack Black film, and shouldn't be judged as such. It's a Michel Gondry film and fits quite logically in the annals of his past work for Bjork, The White Stripes, and The Chemical Brothers. He…

Movie Review: Millennium Actress

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Satoshi Kon’s most engrossing film to date.
Satoshi Kon is a truly exceptional talent. His films focus on uniquely human themes, yet often blur the line between fantasy and reality. Kon’s movies have a psychological complexity to them and are intelligent visions of human nature. With Millennium Actress, Satoshi Kon is at his very best. His career only spans four films thus far, but his…

Making the Rounds at General Hospital – Abused and Confused

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Marrianna and Claudia are victims. Lulu doubts Logan is the TMK.
So we saw a new theme pop up in yesterday's episode of General Hospital. Both Marianna and Claudia are abused women. Marianna was illegally brought into this country by her jerk of an ex-boyfriend who's been knocking her around ever since. Claudia, it would seem from her memory flashes, was molested by her psycho-pop. The realization sort…

DVD Review: Dallas: The Complete Eighth Season

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Was season nine really just a dream?
Debauchery, double-crossing, divorce, adultery, kidnapping, assassination attempts! Dallas had it all. The Ewing family lived at the ostentatious Southfork Ranch in Braddock County just outside Dallas. Miss Ellie, long played by veteran actress Barbara Bel Geddes, was the matriarch of the clan. J.R. (Larry Hagman) was the oldest Ewing son, married…
