A Few Words From Jessica Simpson

What is in that head of Jessica Simpson‘s????

The singer/actress just posted this letter to her fans on her official fansite.

Hey everyone. I hope you are all doing well! I am getting ready to start MAJOR MOVIE STAR and I am so excited! I just got back from spending some time in Europe, and while I was there I visited many museums, and have been reading about different artists. I have also been writing a lot in my journal recently. I was reading a book about Michelangelo and there were 2 quotes that caught my attention –

“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” Michelangelo

“Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing.”

These quotes inspired me to write the below passage. I hope you can find your own individual meaning in it, as I keep coming back to it and find new strength.

“Sometimes we are all so afraid to be honest with ourselves because we know that honesty will lead us somewhere off the path of the life we’ve mapped out in our minds. Today, I challenge us to ask ourselves this…
What if we allow our fear to provoke us into action?
Can facing our fear be what walks us to somewhere better?
I do not have your answers, but in the quest to find my own, I’ve discovered somewhere worth traveling to…
In my life, I ignore my fears too often, but then I’m left with nothing to challenge the best of me. I just remain cowering from my true identity. There is no discovery.”

So profound!

P.S. How many of you actually believe Jessica was really reading a book on Michelangelo????

The Golden Compass Trailer

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

I can’t wait for this movie. I’m a huge fan of the books and fantasy films in general (Hawk the Slayer blew my mind), so this is the big one I’m looking forward to this December. However, I don’t approve of New Line Cinema’s tacky Lord of the Rings linkage to kick off the trailer. I understand that Philip Pullman’s trilogy has a much smaller fanbase and the films will require a wider marketing strategy, but it’s misleading to Tolkien fans to market The Golden Compass as a similar beast to the Rings trilogy when they are different in almost every way imaginable. Hopefully, Weitz and co. can do justice to an incredible series of books. And judging by the trailer, they’ve done a good job so far.

John Rambo Trailer

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Sylvester Stallone follows his late-life crisis biopic Rocky Balboa with a revisit to another staple of 80s extremism, Rambo. John Rambo as he’s ever so cleverly called it (I would have gone with Rambo IV: Fuck Em All to Hell… Again) will mark the fourth time that entire armies will regret pissing off one guy. This time, Rambo is again coaxed out of voluntary solitude (where he knits, writes about his feelings and mends boats or something) to rescue some idiot war-protesters who head on into Burma unarmed to ask them nicely to stop fighting. Using only his bare-hands and his exploding bow and arrows, John shows those pissy protesters that there’s only one way to stop a war. And that way is John Rambo.

WARNING: The following trailer contains scenes of extreme manliness and all out testosterone-fuelled brilliance that may offend subscribers to reality.

Fido – Trailer 1a

Thursday, May 24th, 2007
  Fido - Trailer 1a
Welcome to Willard, a small town lost in the idyllic world of the 50’s, where the sun shines every day, everybody knows their neighbor, and rotting zombies deliver the mail. Years ago, the earth passed through a cloud of space dust, causing the dead to rise with a craving for human flesh. A war began, pitting the living against the dead. In the ensuing revolution, a corporation was born: ZomCon, who defeated the legions of undead, and domesticated the zombies, making them our industrial workers, our domestic servants - a productive part of society. ZomCon would like the people of Willard to believe they have everything under control... but do they? Timmy Robinson doesn’t think so. At eleven, Timmy already knows the world is phony baloney - Mom and Dad just won’t admit it. Now ZomCon’s head of security has moved in across the street, and Timmy’s Mom refuses to be the only housewife on the block who doesn’t have a zombie of her own. When she brings a zombie servant home, Timmy discovers a new best friend, and names him Fido. And even though Dad has a bad case of zombie-phobia, Timmy is determined to keep Fido, even if he does eat the odd person...

After the fight to end all fights Wednesday morning, Elizabitch Hasselbeck is playing the Donald Trump card – she’s whoring herself out to every media outlet to talk about the big bust-up with Rosie O’Donnell.

“I am fine,” Hasselbeck tells Extra TV. “We are used to debating things there. You have women who care a lot about things.”

Elizabitch defended her clash with O’Donnell, explaining, “We’re honest, and we deal with things up front. I’m not a person to put aside my inner feelings for somebody and not deal with an issue just because of their name and who they are.”

She even tries to spin the drama, saying it’s good that the fighting happened because: “For two women who disagree on many things – socially, politically – we also have a lot of passion. I’d rather be dealing with someone with passion for this world that we live in than someone with apathy.”

The two sparring View co-hosts haven’t spoken since the bitchfight went down. However, Hasselback adds, “I believe that we are mature women who can resolve, and I hope we can. I’ve been able to develop a friendship with Rosie, and I would hope that a disagreement or a heated debate wouldn’t be the end of a relationship.”

While O’Donnell is taking Thursday off to celebrate her partner’s birthday and Friday is a pre-taped show, the pair’s next encounter will sure be….interesting.

“It’ll be a little awkward, I’m sure,” says Elizabitch. “Whenever we have a heated debate, the next day is awkward. I bet we’ll talk about some fun things.”

Hasselbeck also spoke to OK! magazine, telling them, “Rosie certainly can defend herself. I don’t think it means as much when someone else defends you as it does when you defend yourself. We’re great friends. We have our disagreements,
but we work them out.”

Or maybe not this time!

We’re going to miss this drama next season!
