Tila Tequila is a leprechaun

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Tila Tequila dropped her phone while leaving the Golden Globes Silverspoon gift bag event in West Hollywood yesterday. Fortunately her male assistant was there to pick it up while she squealed in a voice that only dogs and mice can hear. I also love how Tila Tequila’s wears lingerie for a shirt. She’s like a sexy leprechaun you can put in your pocket. Which I would then send her through the wash. I have no idea where she's been. At her height, it could be a plethora of tiny, gross places. Like Frankie Muniz's house.

Jessica Alba is looking pregnanty

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Jessica Alba attended the 10th Annual V-Day event in Century City yesterday and is making her way into the maternity outfits. She looks good though. Damn good. Sadly, that will all fade away over the next few months. It's a goddamn shame, really. That kid better do something awesome when he/she grows up. Like cure cancer or invent a delicious beer that grants me the power of flight.

Buck. Fuel. Rad.

Friday, January 11th, 2008

buckfuelids.jpg

Check out these gnarly new IDs that Buck lovingly crafted for Fuel. “Below Deck” is a flourescent homage to early skateboard deck graphics with plenty of skulls. “Sackrifice” is another experiment combining 3D and cell-animation with a unique hand-drawn look. Watch out for that … D’oh!!! Sick illustration and animation once again.

Christina Aguilera may be giving birth – right now!

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Christina Aguilera is reportedly at the hospital today giving birth to her baby(s), according to E! Online:
Word on the street is that Christina Aguilera is already at Cedars awaiting a very special delivery—and we're not talking 'bout the Domino's kind. She has allegedly been there since last night, but when Planet Gossip's Marc Malkin checked in this morning, her rep said there was nothing to announce...yet.
Congratulations to Christina and her husband Eyebrows McGee. It must be exciting welcoming their new little Sasquatch brood into the world. But, no, seriously, I hope everything goes smoothly, no complications and the baby(s) come out alright. Yup, there is a heart underneath this chiseled physique of mine. A soft, sensitive heart that I’m hoping to share one day with a bikini model who has really nice cans.

Britney Spears has one last chance in custody battle

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Britney Spears has a hearing on Monday that will determine the fate of her custody battle with Kevin Federline. Insiders say that if Britney pulls a no-show or is uncooperative with the commissioner, Kevin will have permanent legal custody of the children. TMZ reports:
What's more, police sources tell TMZ that Commissioner Scott Gordon will hear firsthand eyewitness accounts of last Thursday's breakdown from LAPD, firefighters and paramedics who were on scene. We're told they're not going to paint a pretty picture.
Also, we've learned the L.A County Sheriff's Department isn't taking any chances -- they're ready for anything. If Brit Brit loses it in court, they'll be there to "handle" the situation.
So, am I safe in saying Britney is totally getting TASER’d on Monday? In the meantime, I included pics of Britney returning home from Mexico last night. The NY Daily News says she fled the country with Adnan Ghalib because her parents want to put her in a mental institution. But, hey, let’s make sure Britney has one more chance to be around the children. The little scamps love playing hostage!

Psyop: Guinness “Dot”

Friday, January 11th, 2008

dot2.jpg

Beautiful transitions and lush compositions make this Guinness spot from Psyop worthy of repeat viewing. As with much of Psyop’s work, this spot also uses narrative—albeit in a fairly subtle manner—to move the viewer along from vignette to vignette with a sense of purpose.

NOTE: If this post looks familiar, it’s because it was live for about a day before I took it down at the agency’s request. We swapped out the old, cruddy YouTube video with this new QT directly from Psyop.

Katharine McPee dropped by RCA

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Katharine McPhee of American Idol season five has been dropped by RCA. A rep for the record label confirmed the news today. Coincidentally, season five winner Taylor Hicks was also dropped from his label two days ago, according to Us Magazine:
“I think the industry has seen that unless these artists can churn out strong enough original material, they don’t really have that much traction once we don’t see them on television week after week singing songs we already know and love,” Rollingstone.com editor Caryn Ganz tells Usmagazine.com.
Wow, this news proves a theory I’ve been kicking around for quite some time: I really can care less about American Idol. Seriously, sometimes I wish a plane would crash into the stage while they’re filming the show. Or even better; a private jet carrying Nickelback, Hinder and let’s say Chris Daughtry is the pilot. Also, during the nose dive, part of the fuselage breaks off and lands on John Mayer’s face. Hopefully God reads this post and realizes he forgot to get me a Christmas present.

Vietnam VFX Capitulates

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Yesterday, I posted a Quickie that exposed one of the most blatant rip-offs I’ve seen in recent years. The site being ripped was this one, Motionographer. The site doing the ripping was Vietnam VFX.

vfxpost2.jpg

They had not only reproduced Motionographer’s layout (which is not, as some people assumed, a distributed WordPress template), they had lifted the Cream O’ the Crop and Motionographer’s About and Contact pages as well.

Well, today things are different. Vietnam VFX has a new layout (which I like, actually), and all is right in the universe. I just wanted to thank everyone for
their comments and vituperations on Motionographer’s behalf. It apparently worked.

I know a lot of you out there have had your work ripped off in some form or another. I’m planning on writing an in-depth article about the different forms of ripping that occur in the world of motion graphics. If you have a story you’d like to share with me, please send it to justin@motionographer.com.

Special thanks to Motionographer contributor Sofus Graae for spotting the rip in the first place and riding this thing until the end.
