Jessica "Don't Call Me Latina" Alba has another dud on her hands!
The actress, who can't open a film, may have happy baby news but she won't be thrilled to learn that her new film, The Eye, has failed at the box office.
Despite major promotion from Alba, her movie is projected to only take in $12-15 million this weekend on 2436 screens in the U.S.
By comparison the new Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana 3D concert film is expected to take in a WHOPPING $25-30 million for Friday - Sunday. AND, that movie was only released on 683 screens in theaters across the country!
The Hannah Montana movie has set a new record for biggest opening of a concert film and a 3D movie.
Poor Jessica!
She should take a nice LONG maternity break!

There’s no more hiding it: Tori Spelling shows off her growing baby bump during a walk with husband Dean McDermott in Santa Barbara on Friday. No word yet on a due date for the happy couple, who are already parents to son, Liam, who turns 1 on March 13.

Paris Hilton’s Friday night guest appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman differed from her last, in September, when the CBS host couldn’t stop badgering her about her just-finished jail sentence.
“We have a lovely woman who’s been in prison,” Letterman said Friday, explaining why he previously behaved the way he did. “I put those two things together and my head starts spinning.”
Rehashing how he verbally accosted Hilton the last time, “I continued to press the point,” Letterman acknowledged – though Hilton had made it clear she was finished talking about her life behind bars.
“I thought I was hilarious,” Letterman recalled, until others the next day told him, “No, you were an ass—-.”
He also heard Hilton was hurt and vowed never to return to his show. So he called her, wrote a letter and sent flowers, which she called “sweet.” And he cajoled her into returning to his show, which she did Friday – one week before her new movie, The Hottie and the Nottie, opens.
“It’s like a first date,” said Letterman, admitting he was “on probation.” As Hilton, in a yellow dress, made her stage entrance, the Late Show band played “I Love Paris.”
“I offended you. I’m not here to make enemies, honestly,” Letterman, 60, told Hilton, 26. “I’m terribly sorry.”
“Yes,” said Hilton. “And you better not try it again. I hope you got the jail thing out of your system.”
Their bitter past behind them, Letterman said, “What else would you like to talk about? Let’s talk about something fun.”
That included her new movie (she plays the “hottie,” Letterman explained), her new shoe line, her five fragrances and her cellphone video game – something that seemed to stump her host.
“What is the game?” he asked. “How do you know you’ve won?”

Lily Allen has split from her boyfriend, Chemical Brothers musician Ed Simons.
Reports first surfaced in the British papers early Saturday – with some saying that Allen had been “dumped.” But a friend of the singer says the couple actually spent some time together Saturday, suggesting that the parting might not be as acrimonious as first thought.
The split comes after news that Allen miscarried the baby the couple had been expecting.
“She is feeling fine,” Allen’s friend says. “She is throwing herself into her work on her new album and TV show.”
Only two days ago, she excitedly joined her family to watch her thespian brother Alfie take the stage in the lead role of Equus in Chichester, southern England.
Her rep had no comment when contacted Saturday.

Filed under: Critical Thought, Celebrities and Controversy, Fandom, Quentin Tarantino In a new, in-depth interview with British magazine Sight & Sound, Quentin Tarantino, who I had the pleasure of meeting at this year's Sundance, goes into all his upcoming and most of his past projects, and gives a detailed update on exactly where he is with his next feature, a war movie called Inglorious Bastards. "I've got tons of material and a lot of stuff written but now I've figured out what to do, I gotta start from page one, square one," Tarantino says, seemingly putting to rest any notion that this thing will be going before the cameras in the next year or so. "I started just before I came on this trip and brought the stuff with me but I haven't had a chance to continue yet. But maybe on the flight back home I'll come back into it. I love writing in other countries." No further details about the plot or potential casting is given, just that quasi-confirmation that the film is in his cross-hairs at the moment.
Tarantino also talks at length about Grindhouse, admitting to being depressed and disappointed over how the film was received at the box office, but defending his longer, original cut of Death Proof as the definitive one and arguing that it stands on its own quite well. Tarantino also talks about the process of getting involved with the double feature in the first place, and reveals that he first wanted his contribution to be a Candyman-style horror film about the ghost of a slave that terrifies a group of white girls. "The first idea was a bunch of young college history students that were going through a tour of the plantations of the old South. And there's a ghost of an old slave that is part of negro folklore. Jody the Grinder actually went down and bested the devil, by f**king him. And so the devil put him on earth for all eternity to f**k white women."
So why didn't this idea make the cut? "I would probably have had Sam Jackson playing that part," Tarantino continues," and it was really good, but then I didn't have anywhere to go with it, because if you have a story about a killer slave with supermacho powers done in the style of a slasher film, then even if he's doing it today, and even if the white girls are innocent, how can you not be on the slave's side?" Tarantino goes into many other areas in the interview, talking about his writing process, the books he's reading, the British movies he'd like to make one day, and even his plans for eventual retirement. Michelle Williams has broken her silence following the death of Heath Ledger, saying in a statement, “My heart is broken.”
“Please respect our need to grieve privately,” Williams says in the statement released by her rep Friday. “My heart is broken.”
Adds Williams, mother of Ledger’s 2-year-old daughter Matilda: “I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father. All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day.
“His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time, and we know that he is with us still. She will be brought up in the best memories of him.”

Eva Mendes checked into Utah’s Cirque Lodge and has been in the facility, which deals with substance-abuse problems, for several weeks.
“Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support. Out of respect for Eva’s privacy, we do not wish to discuss further details,” her rep said Friday.
Cirque Lodge became a familiar name last year, when Lindsay Lohan checked in for treatment. The substance for which Mendes is being treated has not been reported.
The news was first reported on TMZ.com.
At last year’s Cannes Film Festival, Mendes told reporters that to feel comfortable doing a sex scene with Joaquin Phoenix in We Own the Night, which also starred Mark Wahlberg and Robert Duvall, she required a drink.
The Miami-born Mendes, 33, is of Cuban-American background and first made a name for herself when she starred with Denzel Washington in 2001’s Training Day. She played Will Smith’s love interest in the 2005 comedy Hitch, as well as in the screen version of the Marvel Comic Ghost Rider, with Nicolas Cage.
Come fall 2008, Mendes will be seen in an all-star remake of the stage and screen comedy The Women, costarring Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Bette Midler. For 2009, she has already finished the thriller The Spirit, directed by Sin City and 300 creator Frank Miller.
The same day news broke about her being in rehab, CNN Money also reported that Mendes, a previous spokesperson for Revlon, is the new face of Calvin Klein Fragrances, in an ad campaign that is slated to launch this fall.
Previous actresses and models who have been affiliated with Calvin Klein fragrances, the company said in a press release, include Kate Moss, Scarlett Johansson, Christy Turlington and Natalia Vodianova.
