This collection has a few good movies, but is underwhelming overall.
This year is the 10th anniversary of Frank Sinatra's death. Perhaps a bit morbidly this has been seen as a chance to re-release a lot of his material. There have two greatest hits packages released, multiple DVD sets, and even postage stamps. The Golden Years set includes five Warner Bros. movies Frank made between 1955 and 1965. Marriage on…

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008Britney & Kevin Return to Court for Custody Hearing
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008
Britney Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline separately arrived at a Los Angeles court Tuesday for a custody hearing.
Spears, 26, is apparently seeking a change in her visitation schedule, but details weren’t immediately known. The hearing was closed to the public.
At 8:40 a.m., a somber-looking Federline, wearing a beige suit, entered the courtroom along with his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan.
Spears, also looking somber, entered shortly thereafter with her father. Her blonde hair was straight and long and she wore a white shirt, beige pants, and wedges. She took a seat on the right side of the courtroom, while Federline was seated on left side.
Laura Wasser, Spears’s original divorce lawyer, rejoined the singer’s legal team. Wasser entered the courtroom along with a lawyer working for Spears’s conservatorship.
The pop star currently has monitored visitation with her sons, Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1, three times a week.
The ex-couple faces a custody trial in August if they’re unable to settle their case out of court.
“Our goal is to settle what we can without a trial to achieve what’s in the best interest of the children,” Kaplan says. “But whatever can’t be resolved with a private mediator will be brought to trial.”
Spears’s father remains in legal control of his daughter’s affairs until a July 31 hearing.

Blu-ray Review: Cloverfield
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008A truly mesmerizing Blu-ray experience.
Loads of hype and a lot to live up to Cloverfield only misses one mark: explaining its gigantic CGI star. The intensity of the handheld camera footage isn’t completely original, but lets audiences live through a fantastical disaster from a viewpoint unique to the genre. J.J. Abrams may not get his wish for this to be a cultural giant monster…

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008New Interview: The Action Cats
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008Back in April, when Adobe and Cut&Paste announced the winners of the See What’s Possible Challenge, one entry really stood out to me. "The Experiment" was created by a mysterious group called The Action Cats, who I later learned were actually an in-house group of designers and animators at ad agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
That piqued my curiosity. An agency made this?! So I called them up and we chatted for almost an hour.

Amy Winehouse doesn’t really have emphysema (Yay?)
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008"Amy really hasn't got emphysema, there's traces of emphysema. Obviously, if she doesn't quit smoking, it's going to get worse, like everyone else ... with patience her lungs will recover completely."So essentially, Amy has the same predisposition to emphysema as any other smoker. Real smooth, Mitch. Way to cry wolf on that one. Now nobody's going to believe you when Amy gets so freaking high next week, she travels through a wormhole to become the queen of Reverse Earth and collapses the entire space/time continuum. Oh, that's great, Mitch. Just great. Call me old-fashioned, but I'm sort of attached to, oh I dunno, EXISTING. Goddammit, I knew that beehive was no good. I could tell by the way it's always looking at me no matter where I'm standing...
