Currently doing the rounds in the UK is this quirky advert and print campaign for Vodafone. Creative agency BBH employed the talents of one of my favourite illustrators Adrian Johnson (be sure to check out his work out!), whilst the animation side was handled by South African based, Tennant. I really enjoy the simplicity of Adrian’s characters and the colour pallet he uses. Tennant did a really great job of bringing the characters to life, especially considering the entire turn around was a little over 3 weeks!

 | | Disaster Movie - Trailer 1B In DISASTER MOVIE, the filmmaking team behind the hits “Scary Movie,” “Date Movie,” “Epic Movie” and “Meet The Spartans” this time puts its unique, inimitable stamp on one of the biggest and most bloated movie genres of all time – the disaster film. DISASTER MOVIE follows the comic misadventures of a group of ridiculously attractive twenty-somethings during one fateful night as they try to make their way to safety while every known natural disaster and catastrophic event - asteroids, twisters, earthquakes, the works – hits the city and their path as they try to solve a series of mysteries to end the rampant destruction. Taking aim at everything and everyone, from "Indiana Jones" and "Iron Man" to Amy Winehouse and “High School Musical,” DISASTER MOVIE lampoons the blockbuster movie, pop culture icons and public figures along the way as Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer satirize everything as only they can. Directed by: Jason Friedberg, Aaron Seltzer Starring: Matt Lanter, Vanessa Minnillo, Gary “G-Thang” Johnson, Nicole Parker, Crista Flanagan |

 | | Man On Wire - Trailer On August 7th 1974, a young Frenchman named Philippe Petit stepped out on a wire illegally rigged between New York's twin towers, then the world’s tallest buildings. After nearly an hour dancing on the wire, he was arrested, taken for psychological evaluation, and brought to jail before he was finally released. James Marsh’s documentary brings Petit’s extraordinary adventure to life through the testimony of Philippe himself, and some of the co-conspirators who helped him create the unique and magnificent spectacle that became known as “the artistic crime of the century.” Directed by: James Marsh Starring: Phillipe Petit |

These are the much ballyhooed photos of Sienna Miller hanging out topless in Portofino, Italy with married actor Balthazar Getty of ABC's Brothers and Sisters. The dude has been denying in the press that he's involved with Sienna, but just in case, his wife is flying to Italy to sort things out, according to NY Daily News. I hope she likes nipples.
NOTE: Pics link to NSFW versions that, for some reason, make me see Gilligan's Island in a whole new light.

These are promotional shots for Paris Hilton's new hair extension line DreamCatchers. You can check out the company site here if you absolutely hate your eyes, ears and sense of dignity. In the meantime, I've come up with some slogans to help Paris in her entrepreneurial pursuit:
DreamCatchers: Because you've stopped taking your meds and stole your grandmother's purse. Get beautiful!
DreamCatchers: Look we gave her some money and figured she'd choke on the extensions during the development process. Who knew?
DreamCatchers: Or you can keep looking like a trash bag full of cottage cheese, Kim Kardashian.
DreamCatchers: Because you know who gives great hair advice? Chicks with herpes. That's science. Hair science.

Click’s Garrett Neff has some big shoes to fill. He’s the first model to appear in the iconic Calvin Klein underwear campaign, after the twice Oscar nominated actor, Djimon Hounsou lit up the billboards last year. Back in 1992, the Herb Ritts lensed campaign (for those of you too young to remember) helped launch the careers of Mark Wahlberg and Kate Moss. Bruce Weber, who shot the legendary pics with Tom Hintnaus more than 25 years ago shoots the current Garrett series. From what we’ve seen of Garrett backstage, we think he’s going to more than hold his own with those model giants.

Eva Longoria is addressing recent pregnancy rumors that kicked into overdrive after her recent bikini pics while vacationing in Italy were released. Turns out she's allegedly packing on the pounds for the next season of Desperate Housewives which would explain these pics from the set and later that day getting dinner with Tony Parker. OK! Magazine reports:
“For the upcoming season of Desperate Housewives [Eva's character] Gabrielle has "gained" weight and cut her hair," says the actress' rep Liza Anderson. "She is now a worn-out mother with two kids. Eva has enjoyed a more relaxed environment and will even be wearing butt pads and stomach pads.”
Ha ha! Good excuse. I hope they name the kid "El Guapo" - after me. Okay, maybe that's not really my name, but since everybody's making shit up, I'd figured I'd get in on the action. Now, if you'll excuse me, El Guapo needs to play beach volleyball with his shirt off then fly a fighter jet in a dangerous mission to save Iceman. Or maybe he'll just take a nap under his desk. El Guapo is undecided.

Filed under: Action, Celebrities and Controversy, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels, The Geek Beat It's rare when geek culture and mainstream movie-goers unite together in barely suppressed excitement. It's so rare that, frankly, it's downright weird when it happens. I'm watching the breathless anticipation that is accompanying The Dark Knight from all corners of the media, from places as diverse as Jezebel and Slate, and wondering how did it come to this...
Don't get me wrong. It's great. I haven't seen The Dark Knight yet (I seem to be the only internet writer who didn't catch a press screening), but I feel it could be a film worthy to unite the masses. When my friends asked me, back in the depths of winter, which summer films would be the biggest and best, I didn't hesitate. " Wall E and The Dark Knight." I maintained this opinion, despite the impending arrivals of Crystal Skull, Angelina Jolie, and The Hulk.
Nevertheless, I'm still not sure where the Dark Knight mania came from. A similar excitement preceded last year's 300, but I think that was largely due to the glut of advertising, TV spots and MySpace banners in the weeks beforehand. This year, Iron Man had a similar effect, but it was practically overnight, and driven largely by the shockingly good reviews. And even so, I have friends and family who still haven't gotten around to seeing Iron Man or 300 despite the buzz - but they've had Dark Knight earmarked for months.
