Actor Brad Renfro’s death has been attributed to “acute heroin/morphine intoxication,” according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.

“The final manner of death has been ruled an accident,” the coroner’s office said, adding that the drugs were injected.

The 25-year-old actor, who starred in 1994’s The Client and, later, Apt Pupil, had recently completed a movie with Winona Ryder and Billy Bob Thornton. Renfro was found dead in a Los Angeles apartment on Jan. 15.

Renfro’s troubles go back to 1997, when he was sentenced to two years of probation after he tried to steal a yacht.

This was the second coroner’s report issued for an actor this week. On Wednesday, the determination was announced that Heath Ledger also died from an accidental overdose, though of prescription drugs.

TMZ.com first reported the findings of the toxicology report on Renfro.

Britney Spears is addressing more than her mental health needs – she got a house call from a hairdresser.

“Britney needed some help with her extensions and wanted to talk about a new color,” says Kim Vo, celebrity colorist and owner of Kim Vo, Beverly Hills and Kim Vo, in the Mirage in Las Vegas. “I hadn’t worked with her before, but they asked me so nicely to help.”

Vo arrived at her Beverly Hills home on Thursday afternoon – the day after her early release from UCLA’s psych ward – and worked with the troubled pop star for four hours in a spare bathroom.

“She was more patient than I would have been,” says Vo, who is an E! commentator and has appeared on Extreme Makeover. “She was sweet and has that Southern hospitality… She offered me iced tea and asked if I was comfortable.”

Finding her scalp and hair in great shape – and “her skin is glowing, like a young girls,” says Vo – he streaked her dark brown locks with a caramel color. “We wanted to brighten it up a bit. She’s ready for something new,” he says.

While Vo and Spears worked in the upstairs, her mom was downstairs cooking chicken for dinner.

“That smells so good, mama,” Spears called down the stairs.

Vo felt none of the drama that has surrounded Spears and her family.

“It’s a peaceful home,” says the hairdresser. “It was not a rock-and-roll kind of place. Very classic and peaceful. She gave me a hug when I finished and both she and her mom told me how much they liked her new look.”

Tony Romo keeps his cool on the field and off of it – even when it comes to his love life.

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback, who is currently in Hawaii to play in this weekend’s Pro Bowl and enjoy some downtime with girlfriend Jessica Simpson, says he steers clear of romance talk.

“I came to an understanding a little while back that no one is going to remember me in five or seven years anyway so let them talk and say what they want to say,” he tells FoxSports.com. “In seven years, I’m going to be off doing whatever and living normal so it’s like, ‘Work hard. Try to do things right in life and forget about the rest of the junk.’”

Asked how his life has changed since he began dating Simpson, his pal Terrell Owens jumps in to crack, “I think he’s in way over his head.”

But Romo only smiles and brushes off the idea that he can’t handle the attention, which has not always been favorable.

I’m “definitely not [over my head],” he says. “I don’t read the stuff like everyone else does, so it doesn’t affect me. If I were to watch and read everything that is written and said, as a human being it would probably be difficult.”

Meanwhile, Romo and Simpson have been spotted together getting cozy poolside at the players’ hotel in Hawaii, according to USA Today.

More details are streaming in after Desperate Housewives actor Jesse Metcalfe was punched outside a Los Angeles club Thursday night.

The video, posted on TMZ.com, shows Metcalfe getting into an argument with a man outside Boulevard3. The situation quickly escalated, with the man punching Metcalfe in the face, knocking him to the ground.

A source says the puncher in the video is Mams Taylor, the boyfriend of actress Taryn Manning. According to another source, Metcalfe told friends that he was jumped because he had been talking to Manning that night. (No immediate word from Manning’s boyfriend on the scuffle.)

All told, it was a busy night of clubbing for Metcalfe, who also was spotted at nearby hot spots Villa (hanging with a few friends and drinking cocktails) and GOA (where an eyewitness saw him flirting with a waitress).

Metcalfe checked into rehab for “alcohol issues” last March.

Attorneys for Britney Spears and her father attended a closed-door emergency hearing Thursday, a day after the singer’s early release from a psychiatric hospital.

The attorneys met before Commissioner Reva Goetz, who recently extended temporary control of Spears’s affairs to her father Jamie and a lawyer. The session lasted about a half hour, and the lawyers left without commenting.

Apearing in Goetz’s downtown L.A. court were Jeryll S. Cohen and Vivian Thoreen, who represent Jamie; Samuel Ingham, a court-appointed lawyer for Britney; and Andrew Wallet who, along with Jamie, is co-temporary conservator of the pop star’s estate.

Adam Streisand, an attorney (and relative of Barbra Streisand) who had once claimed to represent Spears – and who met with her Wednesday night – was not there; his firm announced he was off the case.

Former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss was arrested in Nevada on Thursday for investigation of driving under the influence and possessing drugs without a prescription.

Fleiss, 42, was released on $1,300 bail following her morning arrest near her home in Pahrump, police say.

Nye County, Nev., deputies responded to a DUI call and contacted the onetime madam – who now runs a laundry – at 9:23 a.m.

“During the investigation she was found to have prescription narcotics on her person, not in a prescription bottle, and could produce no evidence that the prescription pain medication had been prescribed to her,” police said in a press release. “She was arrested and transported to [jail].”

A male passenger in her car, identified as John Owen, 53, was also arrested for possession of marijuana and being under the influence.

After getting out of the hospital, Britney Spears spent her first night at home with her mom, dad and paparazzo pal Adnan Ghalib. But how did everyone get along?

“From what I was told, everything was very civilized,” a source close to the photographersaid.

After Spears’s unexpected release from UCLA Medical Center on Wednesday, “Britney called Adnan to meet her at the Beverly Hills Hotel. He had been talking with Lynne and Jamie for the past few days,” says the source.

Spears and Ghalib had a brief meeting with lawyer Adam Streisand, who announced Thursday that he is off the case. The pair then met up with mom Lynne and dad Jamie.

Ghalib also confirmed in a posting on his photo agency’s Web site that he “has been in contact with her parents.”

“As the day unraveled, they have all agreed to get Britney safely back to her home so she can get the medical care and love that she deserves,” says the posting on the FinalPixx site. “After spending most of the evening with The Spears [family] at The Summit, Adnan left and went back home at 2:30 a.m…. to give the family some alone time.”

Lynne Spears left her daughter’s home just after midnight Thursday , while dad Jamie remained there through Thursday morning.

With all the stars making the rounds for N.Y.C. Fashion Week, the fashion flock is getting even more jaded than usual. But despite the dazzling gowns at Marchesa, all eyes were definitely on nine-months-pregnant (with twins!) Jennifer Lopez, looking as gorgeous as any of the models in her own silky teal Marchesa dress that highlighted off her growing belly. Sure, she looks fantastic, but how’s pregnancy really treating her? “I’m feeling good,” the almost-due singer says of her decision to check out the new collection along with husband Marc Anthony. “I haven’t gone out a lot for the past few months”, she admits, “but Marchesa has been incredibly good to me. They are just amazing!” And while most moms-to-be stick to comfort wear, the always-glam Jennifer says sweats are not an option. “People make fun of me because when I do have them over to my house I do have a dress on,” she laughs. “I don’t like the way the sweats look with the extra weight. I like to feel good about myself even at home.” And while the singer won’t be able to wear any of Marchesa’s red carpet confections anytime soon, she does have her eye on a few special looks. But, Lopez admits “Right now the best thing I can do for myself, for my body is to keep resting which is not easy for me. I like keeping busy and it is very hard because if they say ‘be off your feet for four hours a day’, I’m like ‘oh, God!’ It’s hard.” If she looks this good at nine months, we can’t wait to see her back in action!

Britney Spears spent her first night out of the hospital at home with her family, after what was a dramatic day with the pop star driving around L.A.

After her surprise early release from the UCLA Medical Center’s psych ward, Spears spent much of Wednesday bouncing around the city – speeding off with one paparazzi pal, getting a room at the Beverly Hills Hotel and visiting with lawyer Adam Streisand.

But the singer’s first night of freedom was uneventful (at least from the outside). After sneaking out of the law office in Century City, the 26-year-old singer and her paparazzo-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib reportedly stopped at a restaurant in the Valley. The two were then driven back to Spears’s Summit Circle house in Studio City by a photographer from the X17 photo agency.

The singer’s father, Jamie – who has been named co-conservator of her $40-million fortune – was spotted at the Beverly Hills Hotel Wednesday evening and was “tired looking,” says one witness. He was briefly escorted to a room, but later returned to the Summit house, where Spears, Ghalib, and the singer’s mother, Lynne, were all gathered.

After midnight, Lynne drove away from the house in her Range Rover. Mobbed by photographers, she ducked behind the steering wheel to shield herself from the snappers.

As night turned into morning, Spears and Jamie remained inside the house.

Spears’s confidante, Sam Lutfi – who has been accused of drugging Britney and has been ordered to keep his distance from the singer – has yet to resurface.

Shining onstage at the Santa Barbara Film Festival only last Saturday, Angelina Jolie showed up a world away – in every respect – on Thursday: Baghdad.

The goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, 32, is there on a U.S. government mission with the State Department to Iraq. She is accompanying Under secretary of State Paula Dobriansky “to learn more about the humanitarian crisis and the 4 million displaced people, 58 percent of whom are under 12,” says her philanthropic adviser, Trevor Neilson.

“There’s lots of goodwill and lots of discussion, but there seems to be just a lot of talk at the moment, and a lot of pieces that need to be put together. I’m trying to figure out what they are,” Jolie, calling for a more coherent plan for the refugees to trickle back to their homes, said as part of an interview with CNN .

“What happens in Iraq and how Iraq settles in the years to come is going to affect the entire Middle East,” she said. “And a big part of what it’s going to affect, how it settles, is how these people are returned and settled into their homes and their community and brought back together and whether they can live together and what their communities look like.”

She added, “It’s in our best interest to address a humanitarian crisis on this scale because displacement can lead to a lot of instability and aggression.”

Jolie met with the top U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Iraqi migration officials, says the American Embassy, the Associated Press reports.

AP Television News also showed her socializing with American troops over lunch at a dining facility in the high-security Green Zone, where the embassy and Iraqi government offices in central Baghdad are located. In the afternoon, she visited internally displaced people.

“Angelina is trying to urge everyone to develop a plan to address getting these people home,” Neilson adds.

Jolie will return to the U.S. Thursday night.
