Michelle Rodriguez Out of Jail Early!

January 10th, 2008

Michelle RodriquezMichelle Rodriguez was released from the Lynwood, Calif., jail Wednesday night after serving just 17 days of her 180-day sentence, TMZ.com reports.

The 29-year-old actress got out at 7:50 p.m., according to her official Web site.

Rodriguez began serving her six-month sentence for violating probation in a DUI case on Dec. 23.

At that time, Superior Court Judge Daviann L. Mitchell forbid an early release for Rodriguez. However, the sheriff could have had no choice but to override that order due to jail overcrowding and let her out for good behavior, legal experts say.

Review – I am Legend

January 10th, 2008

by Puptentacle

Based on Richard Matheson’s 54 year old novel of the same name, I Am Legend tells the story of military virologist Robert Neville (Will Smith), the lone survivor of a devastating infectious disease, and his day to day life in the ruins of New York City. Neville spends his days as a modern day hunter-gatherer, doing what he can to keep himself alive and sane. By night he retreats to the fortress he has built out of his home to escape hordes of blood-thirsty “infected”. All he has to keep him going are a belief that he can produce a cure and the even less likely hope that somewhere there are more survivors.

Britney Takes a Mexican Vacation with Photographer

January 10th, 2008

Britney spearsBritney Spears spent a brief Mexican holiday with her paparazzi friend, checking into a hotel in Rosarito Beach and buying a knockoff Gucci purse, according to a local press report.

Spears, 26, wore her pink wig as she and photographer Adnan Ghalib, 35, arrived in a black SUV at the Rosarito Beach Hotel, just south of the Border, at about 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Ensenada, Mex., newspaper, Frontera.

Ghalib’s own photo agency, Finalpixx, has been photographing the pair’s Mexican activities – one picture shows Ghalib hand-feeding whipped cream from a Starbucks cup to the pink-wigged Spears – and posting online updates.

“Britney Spears and Adnan Ghalib are happily dating,” the agency says in a post. (The agency notes that Ghalib “is married but has been separated from his wife for over a year.”)

The pair have been together for much of the last week.

“After being released from the hospital Britney and Adnan spent the night and the following days together resting, eating, sleeping, shopping and talking about life and the love they have for their families,” Finalpixx says, adding that Ghalib, himself, has not spoken publicly because it would “not be of benefit to her for him to do so.”

“Should he choose to speak about Britney,” Finalpixx continues, “he only has positive things to say about her and the time that they have spent together.”

As for the other paparazzi chasing after them, “Despite such heavy scrutiny, the pair are enjoying a healthy, normal relationship,” Finalpixx says.

While at the Rosarito Beach Hotel, Spears stopped in a gift shop and purchased an imitation Gucci bag and another bag while Ghalib bought a rosary, spending a total of $60, Frontera reports.

“She looked serious and haggard,” a sales clerk told the paper in Spanish. “She didn’t have makeup on.”

The pop star has been in continuous motion since she lost child-visitation rights and was released from the hospital from a mental-health hold after a police standoff.

Spears went to Palm Desert with Ghalib and cruised around at night in her car, only to get a flat tire and have the car impounded.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt go to Mexico

January 10th, 2008

While it’s a documented fact I hate The Hills like a red-headed step-child, there’s no way I could pass on these pictures of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt in Mexico. I guess I’m a sucker for two people in the throes of love. I’m a hopeless romantic. You know, the kind that gets drunk and throws dollar bills at his computer monitor until he realizes he’s gone through a grand and Heidi can’t really see him. Sort of like Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in Titanic, but way more sensitive to chick stuff.

Kim Kardashian loves that attention

January 10th, 2008

Kim Kardashian went to lunch in Beverly Hills yesterday and got some love from the paparazzi. She didn’t even have to fake an engagement or jewel theft. In the meantime, I wonder how often this exchange happens when the paps are taking Kim’s picture. Probably a lot: Pap #1: Wow, great day. Didn’t think I’d see any celebs. Pap #2: Me too. This worked out well. Say, what is this chick famous for again? Pap #1: Some dude peed on her. Pap #2: Stops shooting. Opens up his camera. Lets the film spill out. Pap #1: What’re you doing? Pap #2: I’m going back to shooting midget porn. At least I’ll feel a sense of pride and dignity so I can look my kid in the eye at the dinner table. Pap #1: Stares at his camera. My God, man, you’re right. Do you think I can get a job in midget porn, too? Pap #2: Only if you can dream big enough. Only if you can dream... Also you need your own midget. Union rules. Don’t worry, I know a guy. Now let's go be heroes - friend. Based on a true story. The End.

Revenge of the Nerds: Geeky Writers Ruin Prom Night for the Cool Kids

January 10th, 2008

In what has got to be the best quote of the WGA strike so far, NBC Entertainment Co-Chief (and former prom king, perhaps?) Ben Silverman, bitching about the Golden Globes being canceled, reportedly said about the writer's strike to Ryan Seacrest, "Sadly, it feels like the nerdiest, ugliest, meanest kids in the high school are trying to cancel the prom. But NBC wants to try to keep that prom alive."

Awww, isn't that sweet of NBC? They wanted to keep the prom going for all the cheerleaders and jocks but those dorky-ass kids at the writers' table had the audacity to band together and spoil all the fun. And here he already swiped a bottle of Everclear from the folks' liquor cabinet to spike the punch, too.

Seriously though, if we're going to compare Hollywood to high school (and I'm not saying I disagree with that) and the Globes to the prom, let's be realistic here. Since when are the kids relegated to the nerdy lunch table the "meanest" kids in school? At my high school, they were the ones getting the sh*t kicked out of them by the rich jocks, who only wanted anything to do with them if they were stealing their lunch money or getting the brainy kids to write papers for them so they wouldn't get kicked off varsity. Oh, wait ... that DOES sound a bit like Hollywood.

Having to cancel the Globes -- the highest rated awards show after the Oscars -- cost NBC a pretty penny. E! News reports that NBC paid between five and six million for rights to the show, off which the network makes back $10-15 million in ad revenue. Ouch. That's a lot of lunch money. Go nerds!
