 Britney Spears’s children were safely with Kevin Federline when the pop singer was taken to the hospital Thursday morning for the second time for a psychological evaluation, a source says.
Federline, 29, was not directly involved in these latest events, “but he was aware of what was happening,” says a Federline friend.
“Kevin legitimately wants Britney to get better. He wants her to be in their sons’ lives. He wants them to have a loving relationship. He wants her to get healthy so she can be the mother they need and deserve,” says a Federline friend.
This is the second trip to a hospital this month for Spears. On Jan. 4, she was forced into the hospital following a tense custody standoff involving sons Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1. A court commissioner has since stripped Spears of visitation privileges.
Another source says that getting medical help again for Spears, 26, “has been planned for a long time. Her family is behind this.”

 Former E.R. star Julianna Margulies and her lawyer husband Keith Lieberthal welcomed a baby boy, according to the couple’s family.
“Obviously I’m utterly delighted to be a grandfather,” said Keith’s father, Dr. Kenneth Lieberthal, when reached. “I have to say, he is cuter than any other baby I’ve seen.”
Margulies’s mother, Francesca, was coy when asked about her daughter’s new son, saying, “I better not open my mouth. I don’t want to get in trouble with my daughter.”
However, on her outgoing voicemail message, amid background violin music, Francesca announces, “A beautiful baby boy has been born to us. All is well. His name is Kieran Lindsay Lieberthal. Is that poetry? Do a little dance. Love this day! All is well. God bless! Can’t wait to hear from you.”
Margulies, 41, and Lieberthal, 35, were married in November in Lennox, Mass. She had said earlier she was “doing great” with her pregnancy. This is the couple’s first child.

 Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays computer whiz Chloe O’Brian on Fox’s 24, is pregnant, she says.
Rajskub, 36, and her live-in boyfriend Matthew Rolph, 27, a personal trainer, are expecting their first child at the end of the summer.
“With the strike going on, I had to keep busy!” Rajskub jokes. “We are thrilled and couldn’t be more excited.”
Rajskub recently attended the Sundance Film Festival promoting Sunshine Cleaning, in which she costars opposite Amy Adams and Emily Blunt. On Friday, Rajskub will make an appearance walking in the Red Dress Fashion Show to benefit The Heart Truth in New York.

 They had everybody talking during their major red carpet entrance. But Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie seemed unable to keep their eyes off each other at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday.
Stealing kisses at their table or just romantic glances, the twosome stuck close, returning to their table together – hand in hand, no less! – after a brief break from the main ballroom at the Shrine Auditorium. But the lovebirds soaked up the affection from at least one other person. Mickey Rooney approached the two at their table before the show, gabbed for a bit and posed for a picture.

 As Britney Spears’s confidants are being deposed in her child custody case, Alli Sims says Spears is maintaining a positive outlook.
“She does seem happy,” Sims says at Saturday’s Hugo Boss/Glamour Studio Glam suite, of Spears, 26. “I’m sure obviously she’s going through some things, and a lot, right now. That definitely gets to you.
“I’m not saying that everything is fine,” Sims, 26, says. “Obviously, she’s worried about stuff, like we all are. She’s hanging in there. I’m not worried. She’ll get back. She’ll be fine.”
Sims, who has been away from L.A. traveling, is moving into a new apartment in the Brentwood section of the city. She and Spears talk regularly, Sims says.
“I talked to her today, she’s doing good,” Sims explains. “I love her to death. She’s a sweetheart. … We have never had a fight. It’s so funny, because you’re off visiting friends and you’re not here, by her side, they’re like you’re fighting. That’s not true at all.”
Adds Sims, “I’ll probably see her this week.”
Last week, Spears’ paparazzo-turned-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib gave interviews to Entertainment Tonight and The Insider about his personal relationship with Spears. Sims, who has said she does not like Ghalib, has not seen the interview, she says, but that friends told her about it.
“He’s been around, what, three weeks?” Sims says. “I heard about it just from friends who watched it. I don’t really see the point of that. … I only know him from him following us around for eight months. I don’t personally know him. But I don’t like that vibe.”

 Two weeks after welcoming daughter Harlow, Nicole Richie is skinny again.
Clad in a black hip-hugging dress, Richie, 26, and her rocker beau Joel Madden joined new grandfather Lionel Richie at a birthday bash Friday for Richie’s manager Benny Medina in L.A. (Medina recently brokered Richie’s million-dollar sale of her baby pictures.)
It must have been tough leaving Harlow at home.
Madden, 28, recenly blogged on the Web site of his clothing company, DCMA Collective, “I had no idea what love even was until Harlow came along.
“I swear it’s so hard to leave during the day, but always so rewarding to come home to the little family.
And how is Harlow?
“She’s already growing too fast!” he wrote.

 An intimate memorial for Heath Ledger, attended by immediate family and close friends including former girlfriend Naomi Watts, was held in Los Angeles on Saturday night just hours after the actor’s death was marked at a New York event.
A discreet 30-minute service was held at Westwood Village Memorial Park, Australia’s Channel 7 reports, during which Watts was “visibly upset.”
Around 8 p.m. that evening, a small gathering of black-dressed mourners, including the Australian actress, was seen in the lobby of the Beverly Hills Hotel for a private event, a source said. Ledger’s rep had said that no public memorial was planned for Los Angeles.
Earlier, about 1,000 guests at an Australian event in New York heard a message from Ledger’s father, Kim Ledger, read by Australia’s consul-general.
“Heath did not become an actor for the fame or fortune. He loved his craft and he loved helping his friends. He loved chess and skateboarding too,” said the letter read to guests at the G’Day USA Australia Day Ball at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan. “My image of Heath in New York is him with his skateboard, a canvas bag and his beanie. That was Heath to me.”
But mostly, Kim wrote, “Heath is and always will be an Australian.”
Kim, Ledger’s mother Sally and sister Kate were in Los Angeles on Saturday awaiting arrival of the actor’s body from New York, The Age reports. Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment on Tuesday. A cause of death has not been determined.
According to several Australian news reports, a memorial and burial in Ledger’s hometown of Perth are also expected.
The Los Angeles memorial was first reported by Entertainment Tonight.
