Like Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston before them, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz know how to love each other like no other.

The pair had a romantic date together at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

Diaz’s new movie, Shrek the Third, opens on Friday, and the film’s producer, David Katzenberg, doesn’t seem that confident in the movie.

“I just caution everybody: for Shrek it’s not where we start, it’s where we finish,” Katzenberg told reporters at the Cannes Film Festival. “I hope we have a very, very good weekend, but I don’t expect us to set any records.”

Go team!

Sexy Mary Jane Statue Causes Quite the Stir

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

Perhaps we're just a tad late to the game on this one, but I simply had to add in my two cents about the brand new hot-to-trot statue of Spider-Man's main gal Mary Jane. For those who aren't yet aware of this priceless collectible, you can check it out to the right of your screen. Yup, that's Mary Jane holding her man's Spidey costume and casually bending over a wash-bucket with a pink thong riding high up on her waist. Created by comic-book illustrator Adam Hughes, the limited-edition Comiquette comes from Sideshow Collectibles and is licensed by Marvel. And if you're interested in placing Ms. Mary Jane in your living room (right next to your Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 2.1 DVDs, I imagine), then she'll set you back a crisp $125.

Not surprisingly, bloggers everywhere are all up in arms over this trashy, yet smokin' hot version of Mary Jane. Hughes hilariously describes his creation as "Mary Jane discover[ing] that her superhero husband has slipped some of his laundry into the mix, but she's not looking too displeased about Peter's naughty little transgression." Funnily enough, all the outrage has done nothing by spark a feeding frenzy; the statue (which is available through the Collectibles web site) has already sold out, with a waiting list recently added. Now here's where I get to tell you what I think. First off, who cares? The majority of folks who actually buy these statues are geeked-out males (or fanboys) who like to steal a peak at their purchase while surfing for the latest Star Trek fan art. (And based on some of the fan art I've seen, this statue is quite tame). I see nothing wrong with it; she's not naked, she's not revealing too much (unlike a certain "rain scene" from one of the films) and, quite simply, she looks good. Thoughts?

The National Enquirer is reporting that Farrah Fawcett‘s cancer has returned.

The Enquirer has good authority on this subject, they were the first to report that Farrah was battling cancer, breaking the news in the October 16, 2006 issue before the actress confirmed it.

Their details of her new condition are very sad:

Farrah thought she had beaten cancer but during a recent examination doctors found a small, malignant polyp.

Surgeons could have removed the polyp but feared that might increase the risk of spreading cancerous cells according a source close to the former “Charlie’s Angels” star.

The ENQUIRER has learned that doctors now plan to place a small metallic seed in the cancerous area, which will emit radiation that hopefully will destroy the polyp.

The 60-year-old actress was diagnosed with anal cancer last September. On Feb. 2, physicians pronounced Farrah cancer-free after a grueling regimen of radiation, laser and chemotherapy treatments. She had two two strawberry-sized cancerous polyps eradicated by the treatment.

Get well soon Angel!!!!

Dear MPAA, Am I Allowed To Visit The New ‘Captivity’ Site?

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

So finally after all the hoopla caused by the MPAA's blustering about sanctions and withholding a rating for the horror flick, Captivity is finally on its way. And now they've launched a new website that if nothing else, won't have Lionsgate fending off charges of indecency. In promoting the story of a supermodel and a limo driver who are kidnapped and tortured by a faceless madman, you probably remember that After Dark caused a stir with their giant billboards of Elisha Cuthbert in a variety of unpleasant situations -- although I guess unpleasant is a bit of an understatement when you have a hook through your nose. It might be a little late in the game for the film after the accusations of misogynistic billboards, and the bad press of a delayed release date. Can a snazzy website really have that much of an effect? And it is a snazzy little site, but you would think that after all the complaints about the movie, they would have put an age disclaimer at the beginning. In the end, they don't need one, because despite all the bells and whistles, (or I guess clanking chains and dripping water to be more accurate) there is not all that much to the site.

We get another look at the slightly anti-climactic trailer that Scott told us about last April, and you can't help but notice that after the accusations of violence against women, they felt the need to pack the trailer full of scenes of escape rather than the pronounced torture theme the print advertising seemed to focus on. There are also some extra clips of the film sprinkled around the site and the usual array of photos and downloads. Now that Captivity will finally make its way to theaters later this June, we'll get to see if the movie was worth all the fuss.

“My greatest competition is, well, me . . . I’m the Ali of today. I’m the Marvin Gaye of today. I’m the Bob Marley of today. I’m the Martin Luther King, or all the other greats that have come before us. And a lot of people are starting to realize that now.”
