Is it just us, isn’t it interesting that 7 out of these 10 girls have names that begin with the letter “A”? Obviously A gets you “a-head”. The surprising name on this list is the welcome return of the lovely Anna J to the top tiers of modeling, shooting with some major people as we speak. Pics, courtesy of Next Models NY who has 3 of the stunners. Click on names to see past polaroids/pics/videos for MDC’s top newcomers features.

Amy Winehouse collapsed in her home today while "doing admin" (Read: A high-top sneaker stuffed with blow.) when she suffered a fainting spell and was caught by her assistant. She quickly recovered and is resting at a private hospital for precautionary measures, according to BBC News:
Her manager's assistant was able to stop her falling and Winehouse's father, Mitch, escorted her to hospital "as a precaution", the spokesman said.
Doctors are unsure as to the cause of the incident and the star may be kept in hospital overnight for observation.
The 24-year-old had been signing autographs for Canadian fans who had been waiting outside her house all day, her spokesman said.
"Doctors are unsure as to the cause of the incident." Really? Because I'm pretty sure it was a shitload of drugs. I don't have a Ph.D., but I think I've got this one figured out. So how bout letting me give surgery a crack? True, I've got really shaky hands from drinking too much coffee, but I don't think that should stop us. Wait, hold on, I'm blacking out from the narcolepsy. .... And we're back. Scalpel!
NOTE: The above pic is Amy waiting for the ambulance to show up while her Canadian fan screams with joy and, I'll assume, debilitating alcoholism.

Favorite Color recently crafted the main titles for the HBO documentary, “Back Nine at Cherry Hills: The Legends of the 1960 U.S. Open,” which chronicles the momentous gathering of Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, and Arnold Palmer at the final round of the 1960 U.S. Open.
I’m not a golf fan, but this project piqued my interest in the film. The mix of footage, stills and CG make for beautiful visuals, while the editing, voiceover and elegant typography provide a dramatic undercurrent that’s subtle yet effective. The lighting effects, while familiar, are motivated by an attempt to blend nostalgic sepia-tinted memories with the ever-present sun of the golf course.
The music adds another layer of classiness to the spot. The gestalt is timeless and sophisticated, a reflection of golf’s best image and a spot-on job for HBO.

John Graziano's brother Frank has allegedly been leaving Hulk Hogan threatening messages since his appearance on Larry King Live, according to TMZ:
The voicemail threats made against Hulk Hogan and his family -- calling them "whores" and threatening to "piss on you and your family's grave" -- have been released.
Clearwater PD tells TMZ there is an "open investigation" into the calls.
The messages were played on Bubba the Love Sponge's (?) radio show this morning and they're beyond pathetic. It's basically some assclown who's seen way too many episodes of The Sopranos. The Hulk said some asinine shit, but he deserves a believable death threat that doesn't make me laugh then suddenly crave a meatball sub. I'm talking a dead fish in his mailbox. Or shaving off his moustache in his sleep. I hope you're writing these gems down, Frank Graziano, and not just polishing your pinky ring with a slice a da pizza.
EDIT: Uncensored and NSFW version of the messages here. Not safe for the kiddies either unless you want to explain why Darth Vader keeps saying "cocksucker."

The actor James Franco has generously decided to show us how on earth he does it. Having caught him in that James Dean movie and those Spider-Man films -- not to mention in Nicolas Cage's deeply inexplicable "Sonny" -- I've frequently wondered how, indeed, does Franco do it. The tears, the rage, the hair. He's quite something. Here he explains, with endearing self-satire, his secrets. Franco's little brother Dave plays his pupil. And here James teaches Dave how to give a green-screen performance. And here the Francos attempt a scene from "Rebel without a Cause." Afflecks, can you top this?

I lounge with a stiff drink in my hands. My wounds from that creature, that ABOMINATION, still stung from the chlorine in the pool. But I'm safe here. We left it for dead in Costa Rica. Thousands of miles away. I sip from my whiskey. Ah, Vegas, you make everything better. For a moment, I close my eyes and savor the sun.
"Y'AAALLLL"
NO! How?! Not here! My God, the people... Is there nowhere a man can gamble without fear of mastication by forces unknown? More importantly, I just had this room comped.
"Y'AAALLLL"
Let this be the final countdown, monster. Today, one man fights back - with a vengeance. And, also, a lounge chair slathered in bacon. EN GARDE!

After quite a lot of umm-ing and arr-ing, I decided to upgrade this nugget of news from the Quickies.
The work on show is extremely subjective, and just like Marmite, you’ll either love it or hate it! I’m posting this is because it’s a good example to all the aspiring motion graphic designers of doing things differently, of trying to steer away from the well-beaten path of logo resolve after logo resolve. Luckily, the people at FGA also have a great sense of design to back up their reel, rather than relying just on novelty.
