Avril Can’t Unload!

February 26th, 2008

Tcikets to her tour aren't the only thing April Lavigne is having trouble selling!

The Canadian poseur is trying to get rid of her pricey Mulholland Estates mansion - to no success.

April's house has been on the market for a while. The 6,894 square property was initially listed for $7 million.

Three buyers stepped up to the plate and then pulled out before finishing the deal.

We can imagine Lavigne having that effect on a lot of people!

Now, the asking price of April's mansion has been slashed to a (relatively) bargain basement price of $5.8 mill. It's definitely a buyer's market.

Lavigne and her Sum 44 husband, Darren Whibley, are trying to get rid of the Mulholland house cuz they're apparently paying a hefty mortgage on a Bel Air home they bought last year.

Oh, to be rich, untalented and famous. It ain't easy!

Presented By: Did you know… How to show or prevent the Error List from appearing after a failed build? – #159

February 26th, 2008
In the General Development Settings, the Error List will be shown (whether it is auto-hiding or just closed) whenever a build fails with errors.  If you like to drive what you need to fix using just the Output window (since you can double-click on an error message in the output window and jump to that line), here’s how to prevent the Error List from appearing. Under Tools – Options – Projects and Solutions – General, there’s the Always show Error List if build finishes with errors checkbox.  Technorati Tags: VS2005Tip,VS2008Tip

DVD Review: Justice League – The New Frontier

February 26th, 2008

The world’s greatest superheroes come together for the first time… again.
It seems as though the number of "origin stories" in the comic book world vastly exceeds the number of superheroes. It feels as though every few years the origins of our favorite heroes and groups are reexamined, rethought, and retold. Taking these comic book legends and putting them on film (either animated or live action) allows for yet…

Blu-ray Review: Deja Vu

February 26th, 2008

A vastly confusing time travel plot doesn’t derail the entertaining performances and action.
You can’t do a time travel story unless you’re willing to take the time to explain the rules clearly. In the fast paced sci-fi thriller, Déjà Vu, Tony Scott speeds though the explanation to get to the rousing car chase sequence and eventual villain showdown. However, as convoluted as the time travel issues are,…

DVD Review: Justice League – The New Frontier

February 26th, 2008

An animated essential.
If there is anyone out there from Warner Bros. reading this, I have a request: please, please, please release Justice League: The New Frontier in theaters. I don't want to live in a world where an animated film the caliber of this latest DC Universe release is simply called a direct-to-video movie.A period animated film set in what was a dead…

Drew Barrymore Opens Up About Justin Long

February 26th, 2008

Drew BarrymoreKeeping in constant character for the role of Jackie Kennedy’s eccentric cousin Edie Beale in HBO’s upcoming Grey Gardens, Drew Barrymore refers to her real-life boyfriend Justin Long not by his name, but by the Edie-like label of “gentleman caller.”

Tracking the relationship between the actress-producer and the “Mac” in the Apple computer commercials, the March issue of Vogue, reports that the two knew each other for seven years before becoming serious.

Asked for his immediate reaction to what he thinks of when it comes to Barrymore, Long – who helped Drew celebrate her 33rd birthday this month – responds, “Beauty and light, and she shines it on everybody who comes into contact with her.”

As for her reaction to Long, a perennially smiling Barrymore says, “My cheeks hurt, I’m so happy.” Adds Long, 29: “She makes my cheeks hurt, too.”

Past Not Up to Speed
It wasn’t always so. While Barrymore considers herself secure in terms of dealing with her profession and her friendships, as far up-close-and-personal relationships are concerned, “for some reason, I have not grown up to the speed I am elsewhere,” she says.

Having twice walked down the aisle, Barrymore – who, exactly a year ago at this time, insisted she was happy to be single – and first husband, bar owner Jeremy Thomas, split after five weeks, while her marriage to gross-out comedian Tom Green lasted five months before he filed for divorce.

Those in Barrymore’s circle approve of the Vassar-educated Long, says Vogue. Nancy Juvonen, Barrymore’s production-company partner in Flower Films, says, “I do feel she is finally with a good person. She is with someone who adores her and doesn’t put her down on any level … And that is such a departure.”

DVD Review: The Oozing Skull

February 26th, 2008

This heady stroke of genius packs more zingers than the Hostess brand.
It is a mystery that only a MSTie could know. For the fans of the revolutionary science fiction comedy show Mystery Science Theater 3000: how long has it been since the Peabody Award, or the Emmy Award nominations, or the Siskel and Ebert-approved motion picture release? How long has it been since the culmination of the show's momentous ten…

Review – Rambo (2008)

February 26th, 2008

Dave Corkery

Where have all the good action heroes gone?

Besides Jason Bourne, our current movie decade’s hero output pales in comparison to 80s cinema. The Reagan era of gung-ho all American heroes is ancient history, replaced by renegade good guys that run from their own government instead of fighting for it. Is it any wonder then that Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone have optimistically re-donned their filthy vests and tank tops to once again dodge explosions and be too old for this shit? No, it’s not.

So, what reason has Rambo to kill people with his shirt off this time? Some God-faring blonde chick, that’s who. When we first revisit our hero, he’s living the simple life that we all dream of; as a cobra-farmer in Thailand (we’ve all had that dream, right?)
